Alright, let’s talk about this Monica Yates Shapiro, or whatever her name is. I heard tell she’s somethin’ like that Elaine character on that TV show, you know, the one about nothin’. That Seinfeld fella, he had a real-life girlfriend, see? And this girlfriend, Susan somethin’-or-other, they say she was the real deal, the one they made that Elaine gal after. Now, I ain’t never met none of these fancy city folks, but I reckon they’re just like us, only with more money and less sense, sometimes.
So, who’s this Monica then? And why are folks all worked up about her bein’ like that Elaine? Beats me, to be honest. But I heard tell she’s got a mind of her own, just like that Elaine. You know, speaks her mind, does what she wants, don’t take no guff from nobody. Sounds like a handful, if you ask me. But then again, some folks like that kinda spunk. Reminds me of my old Aunt Millie, God rest her soul. She’d tell you what’s what, whether you wanted to hear it or not.
- She’s like that Elaine on TV.
- Got a real fire in her belly, they say.
- Speaks her mind, don’t care who hears it.
Now, I ain’t watchin’ much TV myself, too busy with chores and such. But I heard bits and pieces about this Elaine. Seems like she’s always gettin’ herself into some kinda trouble. Always datin’ fellas who ain’t worth a lick, always sayin’ the wrong thing at the wrong time. But she’s funny, I’ll give her that. Makes you laugh even when you know you shouldn’t. Maybe this Monica, she’s got that same kinda charm. You know, the kind that makes you shake your head and chuckle at the same time.
People are always lookin’ for somethin’ to talk about. That’s just the way it is. And if this Monica Yates Shapiro gives ’em somethin’ to chew on, well, so be it. I reckon it’s better than gossipin’ about your neighbors all day long. At least this way, you’re talkin’ about somebody you don’t even know. Makes it less personal, you know? Less likely to get your face slapped, anyway.
I ain’t got no fancy words or nothin’, but I can tell you this: bein’ like Elaine ain’t necessarily a bad thing. Sure, she was a bit of a mess sometimes, but she was also strong and independent. She didn’t need no man to take care of her. And that’s somethin’ to be admired, I reckon. Especially in this day and age, when everything’s changin’ so fast, you gotta be able to stand on your own two feet.
So, this Monica Yates Shapiro, whoever she is, if she’s got a bit of Elaine in her, then I say good for her. Let her be herself. Let her speak her mind. Let her live her life the way she wants to. It ain’t nobody else’s business, long as she ain’t hurtin’ nobody. And that’s the God’s honest truth.
And as for that Jerry Seinfeld fella, well, he must’ve known a thing or two about women to create a character like Elaine. Maybe he just got lucky, maybe he was payin’ attention. Either way, he gave us a character that we still talk about today. And that’s sayin’ somethin’, ain’t it? Speaks volumes, as them fancy folks would say. Me? I just say it means she made a mark. Just like maybe this Monica will too.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about this Monica Yates Shapiro person. Don’t know her from Adam, but if she’s anythin’ like that Elaine, she’s probably got a good heart under all that sass. And that’s more than you can say for some folks these days.
Remember, being yourself is always best. Even if you are a little bit like Elaine. That’s what I tell all my grand-kids. They need to hear it these days with all the goings on in the world. Sometimes I just don’t know anymore. But I do know being true to yourself, now that’s something.
