Alright, so the other day I was trying to figure out how to make my white dress shirt less see-through. You know how it goes—you buy a nice white shirt, and it turns out you can practically see your skin right through it. Not exactly the look I was going for, especially for work.
First off, I started by looking at the shirts I already had. Some were definitely worse than others. I noticed the ones made of thicker fabric were a lot better. So, lesson one: if you’re buying a new white shirt, go for something with a bit more heft to it.
- I tried on a few different undershirts. White ones, surprisingly, made things worse. They just highlighted the see-through parts even more.
- Then, I remembered someone once told me to try nude or skin-toned undershirts. I dug one out and gave it a shot. What a difference! It blended in way better and made the shirt look a lot more opaque.
- I also experimented with a light grey undershirt. It worked pretty well too, kind of disappearing under the white shirt. It’s a good trick if you don’t have a nude one.
So, I decided to wear a nude camisole under my shirt for a meeting. It worked like a charm! I felt way more confident and not at all self-conscious about the see-through situation.
What I Learned
Basically, if you’re dealing with a see-through white shirt:
- Opt for thicker fabrics when buying new ones.
- Avoid white undershirts—they make it worse.
- Use nude or skin-toned undershirts.
- Try light grey as a backup.
- Consider layering with a camisole or a tank top in a neutral color.
I hope these tips help you out. It took a bit of trial and error, but I’m so glad I finally cracked the code to wearing white shirts without feeling like I’m showing off more than I intend to. If you’ve got any other tricks, I’d love to hear them!
