Alright, so you wanna spend a weekend in Boston, huh? Don’t know where to stay? Well, listen up, ’cause I’m gonna tell ya like it is. No fancy talk, just plain and simple.
First off, you gotta think about what kinda trip you want. You want fancy-schmancy? Or somethin’ more down-to-earth? Boston’s got it all, ya know.
Downtown, they say it’s safe, mostly. But even there, gotta watch out. Some places, like Park Street and Downtown Crossing, they got their problems. Bums and junkies hangin’ around at night. Best stay away from them spots after dark, ya hear?
Now, if it’s your first time in Boston, folks keep talkin’ about Back Bay. Fancy place, right on that Charles River. Pretty to look at, I bet. But probably costs a pretty penny too. If you got the money, go for it. Me? I’d probably just gawk from afar.
- Hotels? Lots of ’em in Boston. Big ones, small ones, some with pools even. Prices all over the place, from a hundred and somethin’ bucks a night to who knows how much. Tripadvisor, they say, can help you find a good deal. Compare prices, they say. Save some money, that’s what I say!
- , that’s another place they say you can find a room. Lots of choices, they say. Never used it myself, but maybe you wanna take a look.
How long you stayin’? Three days? That’s plenty, they tell me. Enough time to see all the big stuff and some of the places the locals like. You know, the places they don’t put on the postcards.
Think about what you wanna see. Lots of history in Boston, they say. Old buildings, monuments, all that jazz. And museums too, if you’re into that kinda thing. Me, I like watchin’ people, so any place with a good bench will do.
And don’t forget the food! Boston’s got all sorts of grub. Fancy restaurants, sure, but also good ol’ down-home cookin’. Find a place that smells good and give it a try. Can’t go wrong with a good clam chowder, they say. Never had it myself, but folks seem to like it.
So, where to stay? Well, it depends. If you want to be right in the middle of things, downtown might be okay, just watch yourself at night. Back Bay if you got the cash and want somethin’ fancy. But don’t be afraid to look around. There are other neighborhoods too, maybe a little further out, but cheaper and maybe even nicer.
Don’t just book the first place you see. Look around, read some reviews. People online, they like to complain, so if a place has a lot of bad reviews, maybe steer clear. But remember, some folks just like to grumble about anything and everything.
And one more thing, don’t be afraid to ask around. If you see someone who looks like they know the city, ask ’em for advice. Most folks are friendly enough, long as you’re polite. They might just tell you about a hidden gem you wouldn’t find any other way.
So, there you have it. A little bit of advice from an old gal who’s never been to Boston herself, but heard a thing or two. Go, enjoy your weekend, and don’t forget to send me a postcard… if you can find one these days!
Remember, book somethin’ that fits your budget. No need to break the bank just for a weekend trip. And most important, have fun! That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it?
One last thing, if you book somethin’ with a pool, make sure it’s heated! Nothin’ worse than jumpin’ into a cold pool, ‘specially if the weather ain’t so warm. And if you like horses, there are places with horseback ridin’ too, though I can’t imagine why anyone would wanna do that on vacation.
Safe travels and remember to keep your wits about ya!
