Okay, so I’ve been on the hunt for a decent white button-down shirt for, like, forever. You know, something simple, classic, that goes with everything. I finally decided to take the plunge and try a few different ones out.
First, I ordered a few different shirts online. I read a bunch of reviews, looked at pictures, and tried to get a sense of the fit and fabric. It’s always a gamble buying clothes online, but I figured it was worth a shot.
When the shirts arrived, I was pretty excited. I ripped open the packages and tried them on immediately. Some were an instant no – too sheer, too tight, too long, you name it. But there were a couple that showed promise.
- One was a “Classic Fit Dress Shirt” – it was okay, but a little too stiff for my liking.
- Another one called “Wrinkle Free Collared Blouse” – this one was better, the fabric was softer, but the fit was a bit off around the shoulders.
- I also tried a “V Neck” one, which was surprisingly flattering, but maybe a bit too casual for what I was going for.
After trying on all the shirts, I decided to wear one of them out for a day to see how it felt in action. I chose the one that was most comfortable and seemed to fit the best. I paired it with some jeans and sneakers for a casual look. But I could see it going well with a more formal outfit too.
Throughout the day, I kept checking myself in the mirror, I paid attention to how the shirt moved, how it felt against my skin. I even spilled a little coffee on it (oops!) to see how easy it would be to clean. By the end of the day, I had a pretty good idea of whether this shirt was a keeper or not.
The Final Result?
I ended up returning most of the shirts I ordered, but I kept one – the “Wrinkle Free Collared Blouse”. Even though the fit wasn’t perfect, the fabric was super comfy and it looked pretty good. I figured I could always get it tailored if I really wanted to. So, the hunt for the perfect white button-down continues, but for now, I’m pretty happy with my new shirt!
