Alright, so you wanna know about Sag somethin’, Sag Harbor, right? That’s what the young’uns told me to write about. Okay, okay, I’ll tell ya what I heard, what they say is fun to do there. Don’t expect no fancy words, though. I just tell it like it is.
First off, they got this Main Street. Main Street, mind you, not some fancy-schmancy name. It’s a place for shoppin’, they say. Lots of little stores, owned by folks right there in town, not some big city fellas. They sell all sorts of things, I reckon. Clothes, knick-knacks, maybe some good eatin’ stuff too. You can just walk up and down, lookin’ in windows, seein’ what tickles your fancy. Sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon, if you ain’t got nothin’ better to do.
Then there’s this museum, somethin’ about whales. Sag Harbor Whaling Museum, they call it. Now, I ain’t never seen a whale, not in person anyways. But them fellas used to hunt them big critters, long ago. This museum, it shows you how they did it, the tools they used, all that stuff. Might be interestin’, if you like that kinda thing. Learn a little somethin’, you know? It’s always good to learn, even if you’re old like me.
- Walk down Main Street, see all the shops.
- Go to the Whaling Museum, learn about them big fish.
- Spend some time at Mashashimuet Park, that’s what they told me.
And if you ain’t much for shoppin’ or learnin’, they got this park. Mashashimuet Park. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? But it’s just a park, you know? Trees, grass, maybe a place to sit and watch the birds. That’s what I like to do, sit and watch. Nature’s a pretty thing, when you take the time to look at it. This park, they say it’s got all that. A good place to take the young’uns, let ’em run around, get some fresh air.
Now, they told me about some fancy eatin’ place, too. A bistro, they called it. Sounds foreign, don’t it? But it’s just a place to eat, far as I can tell. They cook with fire, wood fire, they said. Makes the food taste good, I guess. And they got this cauliflower thing, Lulu’s somethin’ or other. Heirloom, they called it. Sounds fancy, but it’s just cauliflower, ain’t it? Still, might be worth a try, if you’re feelin’ adventurous. And if you got the money, these places ain’t cheap, I reckon.
They also say this Sag Harbor place is right by the water, the Atlantic, they call it. Big ol’ ocean. I ain’t never seen it myself, but they say it’s somethin’ to see. Makes the place special, they say. And expensive, too. Houses cost a pretty penny, that’s for sure. But folks wanna live there, by the water, must be somethin’ to it.
Now, if you ain’t got a car, don’t you worry none. They got these Ubers, they told me. Like taxis, but you call ’em on your phone. Fancy stuff, these young’uns and their phones. But it gets you where you wanna go, that’s the important thing. So you can get around, see the sights, eat the food, all that good stuff. And they told me about the top 10 thing to do, well, I only remember few of them, but it is a nice place, they said.
So there you have it. Sag Harbor, they call it. A place for shoppin’, learnin’, lookin’ at nature, and eatin’ fancy food. Sounds like a nice place to visit, if you got the time and the money. Me? I’m happy right here, where I am. But you go on, have yourself a good time. And don’t forget what I told ya.
