Okay, so I’ve been seeing these Mary Jane flats popping up everywhere lately. You know, the ones with that strap across the top? They remind me of those shoes I used to wear as a kid, but now they’re supposed to be cool again. I decided to dig in and see what all the fuss was about.
First, I started noticing them on some celebrities, like that actress, what’s her name… Katie something. She was wearing them with jeans, and it looked kinda cute. So, I thought, “Maybe there’s something to this?”
Then I went down an internet rabbit hole. Turns out, these shoes have been around for ages. Like, way back in the 1900s. Now they’re back, but not exactly the same. Designers are messing with the styles. They are putting them on these big, chunky platforms, and making them in shiny materials. Some even have studs or crazy prints like leopard. It’s wild!
I started looking around for a pair myself. I’m all about comfort, so I wasn’t sure about those super high platform ones. I found a bunch of different styles online, from those really delicate ballet-style ones to some that looked more like boots.
Trying Them Out
Finally, I decided to just go for it and ordered a pair of simple black ones with a low heel. When they arrived, I tried them on with a few different outfits. They surprisingly went with a lot of my clothes! I wore them with jeans, a skirt, and even a dress. They added a little something extra to each outfit. I felt a bit like I was in an old movie or something.
- First Try: Jeans and a t-shirt. It was a simple look, but the shoes made it feel a bit more put-together.
- Second Try: A flowy skirt and a sweater. This was my favorite. The shoes added a touch of vintage charm.
- Third Try: A more formal dress. I was surprised, but they worked here too! They added a bit of an unexpected twist.
After wearing them out a few times, I realized they’re actually pretty comfortable. I walked around all day in them, and my feet didn’t hurt at all. I guess they’re not just about looks, which is a major plus for me.
So, yeah, I’m officially on board with the Mary Jane trend. They’re comfortable, they’re stylish, and they make me feel a little bit nostalgic. I can see why these shoes have stuck around for so long. They are easy to put on, and easy to take off. They are also very light. I think I’m going to try to get a few more pairs in different colors. Maybe even a pair of those wild, printed ones. We’ll see! Maybe they are not so popular in the future, but right now I really like them.
