Alright, let’s talk about them abortion books, or whatever them city folks call ’em. You know, the ones about… well, you know… when a woman ain’t wantin’ a baby no more. It ain’t somethin’ we talked about much back in my day, not out loud anyways. But now, they got books and all, so I guess it’s somethin’ folks wanna know about.
I ain’t read a whole heap of ‘em myself, mind you. My eyes ain’t what they used to be, and honestly, some of them words are just too big for my old brain. But I hear things, you know, from the telly and from the young’uns. They say there’s all sorts of stories in them books.
Some books, they talk about the old days, way back before… well, before things changed. They call it “Roe v. Wade” or somethin’. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Anyways, these books, they tell about women who had to, you know, do things in secret, ‘cause it wasn’t allowed. Real sad stories, some of ‘em. Makes you think about all them girls who had to give up their babies. They talk about “The Girls Who Went Away” and such. Sounds like a heartbreak, that’s for sure. Makes you appreciate what you got, even if it ain’t much.
- They say some books are all about the law and the fightin’ that went on.
- Like this one fella, David Garrow, he wrote a book about privacy and how they made that “Roe v. Wade” thing happen.
- Sounds like a whole lot of lawyer talk to me, but I guess it’s important. “Liberty and Sexuality” they call it, big words for big ideas, I reckon.
Then there’s them books about right and wrong, you know, “The Ethics of Abortion”. That’s a tough one, ain’t it? Folks got strong feelin’s on both sides, and I ain’t here to tell nobody what to think. But these books, they try to lay it all out, I guess. They talk about when a baby becomes a person and all that. Makes your head spin, if you ask me.
I remember when old Mrs. Higgins down the road… well, never mind that. It ain’t my place to gossip, especially not about somethin’ like this. But it makes you think, you know? What’s right, what’s wrong, what’s a woman to do when she’s in a tough spot? Maybe them books got some answers, maybe they just got more questions.
I heard tell there’s books about different reasons why a woman might not want a baby. Maybe she’s too young, maybe she’s too poor, maybe she’s just not ready. Life ain’t easy, that’s for sure. And raisin’ a child, well, that’s the hardest job there is. So, I guess it makes sense that folks want to learn more, understand more.
Books about abortion, they ain’t just about one thing. They’re about women’s lives, about choices, about what’s fair and what ain’t. They’re about history, about the law, and about what’s right and wrong in this here world. And they ain’t always easy to read, neither. Not just the words, but the feelin’s they stir up inside you.
I seen a lot in my years, and I learned one thing for sure: life is complicated. And sometimes, there ain’t no easy answers. Maybe that’s what them books are tryin’ to say, in their own fancy way. They ain’t gonna tell you what to think, but they might make you think a little harder, see things a little different.
So, if you’re lookin’ to learn somethin’, maybe pick up one of them abortion books. Just be ready for some tough stories and some tough questions. And remember, ever’body’s got their own story, their own reasons. It ain’t for us to judge, just to try and understand, best we can.
And that’s all I got to say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got to go feed them chickens. They ain’t gonna wait around for no fancy book learnin’, that’s for sure.
