Well, ain’t this somethin’, talkin’ ’bout this Jack Tar place. Heard folks chatterin’ ’bout it, so let me tell ya what I reckon.
So, this Jack Tar, sounds like a fella, ain’t it? But then they say “Colonel’s Daughter” too. Makes ya wonder, is it a man and a woman? Or maybe it’s just a name, ya know, like them fancy places do. Anyhow, they got this place in Durham, wherever that is. Heard it’s a big city, but I ain’t never been.
- They got food, that’s for sure. Folks say they got “diner fare with a twist.” Now, I ain’t never heard of “diner fare” but I reckon it’s just plain food, like burgers and such. But what’s this “twist” they talkin’ ’bout? Maybe they put some fancy sauce on it or somethin’. Don’t matter to me, long as it fills yer belly.
- And they got this bar, “Colonel’s Daughter” they call it. Sounds like a place for drinkin’, ain’t it? Guess folks go there to have a good time, sip on some spirits and such. Don’t know nothin’ ’bout that, I stick to my sweet tea.
They say this place is on Corcoran Street. Never heard of it, but I bet it’s a busy place. Lots of folks comin’ and goin’, I reckon. And they got a menu, that’s what they say. A list of all the food they got. Must be nice to look at it and pick what ya want. Back in my day, we ate what was put in front of us, no choosin’.
Now, they say this place closed down. Somethin’ ’bout a “pandemic.” Don’t know what that is, sounds like some fancy word. But I hear it made things hard for folks, businesses and such. Shame, really. Guess they ran outta money, lost their “funds” they say. Poor things. Worked hard, I bet, and then had to close up shop. Happens sometimes, life ain’t always fair.
Heard tell they got somethin’ called “Instagram” too. Now that’s somethin’ I don’t understand. Pictures and followers and such. Seems like a waste of time to me, but young folks love it, I guess. They got pictures of this Jack Tar place on there, they say. Food and drinks and whatnot. Maybe it’s nice to look at, but I’d rather taste it myself.
People been writin’ reviews too. Sayin’ what they think about the place. Some like it, some don’t. That’s how it goes, ya can’t please everyone. Some say it’s a good place to eat, others say it’s just alright. They give it “ratings” and such. Four outta five, they say. Don’t know what that means, but it sounds pretty good. Better than nothin’, right?
And you can order “takeaway” and “delivery” too. Means you can get the food brought to ya, or go pick it up yourself. Fancy stuff, ain’t it? Back in my day, you cooked yer own food, or ya went without. But times change, I guess.
So, that’s all I know ’bout this Jack Tar and Colonel’s Daughter place. Sounds like it was a decent spot for eatin’ and drinkin’. Shame it closed down, but maybe somethin’ else will come along. Life goes on, ya know.
