Alright, so you’re lookin’ to get away to them Catskills, huh? Heard it’s real pretty up there. Folks always talkin’ ’bout it. Guess you want one of them weekend getaway packages, eh? Smart, real smart. Saves ya a bit of hassle, I reckon.
Now, I ain’t never been one for fancy travelin’. But I hear tell there’s places up there with waterparks and all sorts of things for the young’uns. The Kartrite Resort, that’s what they call it. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? But they got specials and packages, so they say. Probably saves you a pretty penny, considerin’ how much things cost these days. Kids love them waterparks, always splashin’ and hollerin’. Gives you a bit of peace and quiet, maybe, while they’re busy wearin’ themselves out.
Speakin’ of peace and quiet, I also heard you can just drive around them mountains. No fees or nothin’. Just you and the road, lookin’ at the trees and such. They call it the Catskill Mountains Scenic Byway. Fancy name for a road, if you ask me. But hey, if you ain’t got the money for the fancy resorts, or if your kids are all growed up and gone, that might be just the ticket. Pack yourself a lunch, some sandwiches maybe, and just enjoy the view. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that, I always say.

Now, when you’re lookin’ at them packages, don’t get fooled by all the fancy talk. Read the fine print, that’s what my old man used to say. See what’s included and what ain’t. Some of them places, they charge you extra for every little thing. A towel, a soda, a smile even. You gotta be careful.
And don’t forget to think about the time of year you’re goin’. Them mountains get cold in the winter, real cold. Might be nice if you like the snow, but if you’re lookin’ for sunshine, you better go in the summer. Or the fall, maybe. Fall is pretty, I hear, with all the leaves changin’ color. But then again, it might be crowded with all the city folks comin’ up to look at the leaves.

Either way, the Catskills seem like a nice place to get away from it all. Just gotta figure out what kind of package suits you best. Or if you even need a package at all. Sometimes, just packin’ up the car and hittin’ the road is the best package deal you can get.
