Okay, so I’ve been trying out this Aquaphor bottle lately, and I gotta say, it’s been a bit of a journey. I picked one up at the store the other day – it was about $10.99, not too bad. It’s called the Aquaphor Healing Balm Stick, and the label says it’s got avocado oil, shea butter, and petrolatum in it. I figured, why not give it a shot? I have got some pretty chapped skin on my hands, and we’re still kinda in the winter season.
First off, getting this thing open was a non-issue. It’s just a regular stick, like a big lip balm, super easy to use. I started applying it to my hands, especially around the knuckles where it’s really dry. It went on pretty smooth, no weird smell or anything, which is good. Now, here’s where I got a little mixed up. I thought this stuff was going to be like a moisturizer, you know, hydrating. But from what I’ve been reading and experiencing, it doesn’t really moisturize in the way I expected.
So, I did a little digging online and asked around. Apparently, you’re supposed to use a moisturizer first, and then put this Aquaphor stuff on top. It acts like a sealant, locking in the moisture from the lotion. That’s what they call an “occlusive.” I was just slapping it on by itself, thinking it was enough. Oops!
I switched up my routine, started using my regular moisturizer – the Cosrx green tea gel cream that I have – and then a thin layer of Aquaphor over it. I’ve been doing this for two days. And here is the amazing thing, the redness on my hands, it’s way down. And those little dry patches that were starting to crack? They’re healing up. It’s pretty wild to see the difference in just a couple of days.
The Aquaphor basically creates a barrier, which is great for healing, but it doesn’t really add moisture to your skin. That’s what I learned. I’ve heard from someone saying it’s great for redness and acne clusters. They applied it after their moisturizer for two nights, and it made a noticeable difference in reducing redness and calming down their acne.
Here’s how I’m using it now:
- Clean hands: First, I make sure my hands are clean.
- Moisturize: Then I put on my regular moisturizer.
- Seal it in: After that, I apply a thin layer of the Aquaphor.
- Repeat: I do this twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.
So, yeah, that’s my experience with the Aquaphor bottle so far. It’s not exactly what I thought it was, but it’s turning out to be pretty useful. Just gotta use it the right way. I’ll keep using it and see how it goes, but for now, I’m pretty impressed with how it’s helping my dry skin. I guess it’s a learning process, right?
