Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to go angel blonde for a while now. It just looks so freaking gorgeous, right? So, I finally took the plunge.
First thing I did was, like, a ton of research. I mean, I was going to put chemicals on my hair, so I needed to know what I was getting into. I read a bunch of stuff online, watched some videos, and even talked to a friend who’s a stylist. I wanted to get a good idea of the process and what I needed to do to keep my hair healthy. Then, I booked an appointment at a salon that my coworker recommended. I made sure to tell them I wanted to go super light, like, angel blonde.
The day of the appointment, I was excited! It took a couple of hours, and the stylist used some bleach and toner. And let me tell you, that bleach, it was no joke. Felt a little tingly, but nothing too bad. It was a long process because my hair is naturally dark. It took two rounds of bleach to get it light enough.
After that, she put on this toner stuff, which is supposed to get rid of any brassy or yellow tones. It looked purple, kind of weird, but it worked!
I was so pumped with the result! My hair was that beautiful, pale blonde I wanted. But the stylist gave me a whole speech about taking care of it. She told me not to wash it for at least a day or two to let the color really set in. That was tough.
- Washing less: She also said to wash it less often in general, like only two or three times a week, so the color wouldn’t fade as fast.
- Special shampoo: I got a purple shampoo and conditioner. She said to use that to keep the brassiness away.
- Hydrate: She also told me to make sure my hair stays super moisturized with treatments and stuff.
The first few days, I was all about that dry shampoo life, just to avoid washing it. And when I did finally wash it, I used that purple shampoo, which was kind of fun. It felt like I was in a commercial or something. And I’ve been deep conditioning it like crazy. Honestly, I feel like my hair is softer now than it was before, which is weird, but I’ll take it.
It’s been a couple of weeks, and I’m still loving the color. It’s definitely a bit more maintenance than I’m used to, but it’s worth it. I make sure to use a heat protectant when I’m styling, too, since my stylist said heat can also mess with the color. And I’ve been getting tons of compliments, which is always nice!
If you’re thinking about going angel blonde, I’d say do it, but be prepared for the upkeep. And find a stylist you trust. That’s super important. It’s a commitment for sure, but when I look in the mirror and see that dreamy blonde, I know I made the right call.
