Okay, so I’ve been thinking about getting some gold grillz for a while now, and I finally took the plunge! I’ve always loved how they look – that bit of flash and personality they add to a smile. Plus, who doesn’t want to feel like a hip-hop star every once in a while?
First, I did some digging around to see who’s who in the grillz game. Turns out, this guy Eddie Plein from New York is a big name, and so are Johnny Dang and Paul Wall. They’re like the pioneers of this whole thing. From what I gathered, Eddie Plein started making these things out of dental crowns, turning single-tooth caps into something much bigger and flashier.
Now, I have a bit of an overbite, so I was worried if grillz would even work for me. But guess what? They can be custom-made to fit any kind of teeth, no matter how they’re aligned. That was a relief! It’s all about finding the right person to make them, someone who really knows what they’re doing.
Then came the big decision: what kind of gold to get? Apparently, 14k gold is a good choice because it’s not too soft and not too hard. This company called IF & Co. seems to do some top-notch work with 14k as a minimum. That sounded pretty good to me, so I started saving up.
I also got caught up in some online shopping, looking at all these fancy clothes and stuff. “Upgrade your wardrobe,” they said. Well, maybe another time. The grillz were my priority for now!
After saving up enough cash, I finally made an appointment with a local jeweler who specializes in custom grillz. They took a mold of my teeth, and we talked about the design. I decided to go with a simple, classic gold style for my first set.
The waiting was the hardest part! It took a couple of weeks for them to craft the grillz, but when I finally got the call that they were ready, I was like a kid on Christmas morning.
I rushed over to the jeweler and tried them on. Man, they felt so weird at first! But once I got used to them, I couldn’t stop smiling. They looked amazing!
Now, I’m rocking my gold grillz and feeling like a million bucks. It was definitely a process, but totally worth it in the end. It’s amazing how a small piece of jewelry can make such a big difference in how you feel about yourself.
My Grillz Journey:
- Researched the history and big names in the grillz world.
- Confirmed that grillz can be custom-made for any bite, even overbites.
- Learned about different gold karats and opted for 14k.
- Saved up the money.
- Found a reputable jeweler and got a mold of my teeth taken.
- Waited (im)patiently for the grillz to be made.
- Finally got my gold grillz and loved them!
It was a fun ride, and I’m already thinking about my next set! Maybe diamonds next time? Who knows!
