Okay, so let’s talk about cleaning my makeup brushes. I used to be so lazy about it, but I’ve recently gotten more into it. It’s actually kind of therapeutic, and I love how my makeup goes on so much smoother when my brushes are clean.
First things first, I run my brushes under lukewarm water. I make sure to get all the bristles wet, but I try to avoid getting the handle too wet because I don’t want to mess up the glue that holds the bristles in place.
- I started by gathering all my brushes.
- Then I grabbed some antibacterial cleaner.
- Then, I poured some of the cleaner into a small bowl.
Next, I dip each brush into the cleaner. I swirl it around a bit to make sure the cleaner gets into all the bristles. Sometimes I let them soak for like 15 seconds, especially if they’re really dirty. I started doing this because I noticed that just swirling wasn’t always enough to get all the gunk out.
After that, I gently swirl the brush on a paper towel. This helps to remove the excess liquid and any remaining makeup. I repeat this step until the brush comes away clean. I used to just rinse them under water, but I found that this method helps to get them even cleaner, especially for foundation and concealer brushes.
Once I’m done cleaning each brush, I lay them flat on a clean towel to dry. I make sure the bristles are not touching each other so they can dry properly. I used to stand them upright, but I realized that the water can seep into the handle and loosen the glue. So now I always lay them flat. Sometimes I’ll even reshape the bristles a bit while they’re still damp to help them keep their shape.
Clean Brushes Mean Better Makeup
And that’s pretty much it! It takes a bit of time, especially if you have a lot of brushes, but it’s so worth it. I usually try to do this at least once a week, but sometimes I’ll do it more often if I’m using my brushes a lot. I find that my makeup looks so much better when I use clean brushes, and it is better for my skin, too. No more breakouts from dirty brushes! Plus, clean brushes just feel nicer to use. It’s like a little spa day for my face!
Honestly, the first time I cleaned my brushes, I was kind of shocked by how much dirt and makeup came off of them. It made me realize how important it is to keep them clean. I used to be so bad about it, but now I actually kind of enjoy the process. It’s become a part of my weekly routine, and my skin and my makeup are both so much happier for it. I even noticed that my brushes last longer now that I’m taking better care of them.
I have also used vinegar when I am out of antibacterial solution and it works really well! It is a great natural option.
