So, I finally got my hands on this bottle of Tom Ford Amber Absolute. I’d heard so much about it, especially since it’s been discontinued and all that jazz. It took some serious searching, let me tell you!
First thing I did was obviously giving it a good sniff straight out of the bottle. Wow, it’s intense! Definitely a strong amber scent, like sticking your nose in some ancient, resinous tree sap or something. Not in a bad way, but it’s powerful, for sure.
Then, I sprayed some on my wrist. You know how some perfumes smell different on your skin than in the bottle? This one’s kind of like that. It warmed up and got a little sweeter, but that strong amber was still the main player. I started picking up on something smoky, too. After reading the descriptions on Tom Ford’s website, I realized it’s the incense they talked about. It’s kind of like being in an old temple, but a really luxurious one, if that makes any sense.
- First Impression: Strong, rich amber, a bit overwhelming at first.
- On Skin: Amber is still the star, but there’s a smoky incense vibe.
- After a While: It mellows out a bit, but it’s still a bold scent.
I wore it around the house for a few hours. My wife said I smelled like a “fancy antique shop,” which I guess is pretty accurate. My dog, on the other hand, seemed to want to keep his distance. He’s more into food smells, I guess.
Later, I went for a walk in the park. It was a cool evening, and the scent really seemed to bloom in the fresh air. I kept getting whiffs of it as I walked, and it was really enjoyable. It felt sophisticated, but also kind of mysterious. Like I was some kind of spice trader from centuries ago or something. Haha.
Final Thoughts
This Tom Ford Amber Absolute is definitely not your everyday fragrance. It’s strong, it’s unique, and it’s definitely got a presence. I can see why some people call it their favorite. I don’t know if it’s my absolute favorite yet, but I definitely like it. It’s something I’d wear on special occasions, or when I want to feel a bit more, I don’t know, powerful? It’s a keeper, for sure. Glad I managed to snag a bottle before they all disappeared!
