Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to try out almond nails for a while now. They look so elegant and I have wide fingers, and after searching online I know almond nails have a slimming effect. So I decided today’s the day!
First, I gathered all my tools. I already had some nail polish remover, cotton balls, and a nail file. I also bought a new nail clipper cause my old one was getting a bit dull. I remember the ad online said Boots have some nice sets, so I went to see it, but finally, I decided to buy some almond-shaped acrylic nails to try them on first.

- Almond-shaped acrylic nails
I started by removing my old, chipped nail polish. That stuff was so stubborn! Took me a good few minutes to get it all off. After that, I trimmed my nails down a bit. They were getting pretty long, and I needed a good base for the almond shape.
Then came the filing. This is where I kinda messed up a bit the first time. I filed too much on one side and ended up with a lopsided nail. Oops! I had to start over on that one. But I learned from my mistake and was much more careful with the rest. I made sure to file the sides and create a narrow tip. Slowly but surely, I started to see that almond shape forming.
Choosing the color
Now for the fun part – choosing a color! I really wanted something chic and sophisticated. I remembered reading somewhere that warm skin tones look great with earthy tones. So I looked through my collection and found this gorgeous nude shade. It’s kind of like a soft pink with a hint of brown. I also found a deep emerald with a shimmery finish, which looked gorgeous, but I thought it might be too much for my first time trying this style. I think my skin tone is neutral, so it should work!
I carefully applied two coats of the nude polish, making sure to let each coat dry before applying the next. The result? I love it! The almond shape really does make my fingers look longer and more elegant. And the color is just perfect – subtle yet stylish. I found out that almond nails are similar to oval nails but more tapered, and are good for long, slender fingers. But I think it works well on my fingers. I will try the deep emerald next time!
Overall, I’m super happy with how my almond nails turned out. It was a bit of a learning process, but totally worth it. I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for a chic and flattering nail shape!
