Yesterday, my friend Lily called me up and said, “Hey, let’s go grab some afternoon tea at Notting Hill!” To be honest, I had never been there, but it sounded fancy, so I was like, “Sure, why not?”
So, we decided to meet up this afternoon. I wore a simple dress and some comfy shoes because, you know, you gotta be prepared for walking. I took the tube and met Lily at the Notting Hill Gate station. We started to look for a place for tea, we just walked around, looking at all those cute little shops and colorful houses. It’s such a vibe there, all those pastel-colored buildings and vintage stores, I just really enjoy the afternoon!
We Googled a bit and found a few places that looked good. One was called Candella Tea Room. It had really good reviews, so we thought, “Let’s give it a shot.” When we got there, it was this adorable little place with a cozy atmosphere. The kind of place that just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
We got a table by the window—perfect for people-watching. The menu had all the usual afternoon tea stuff: sandwiches, scones, and little cakes. Lily was all about the cucumber sandwiches, but I went straight for the smoked salmon ones—so good!
- Sandwiches: They had cucumber, smoked salmon, coronation chicken, and egg mayonnaise.
- Scones: Warm, fluffy, and served with clotted cream and jam.
- Cakes: A variety of small, beautifully decorated cakes.
We also got a pot of Earl Grey tea. I mean, you can’t have afternoon tea without a proper pot of tea, right? It was so relaxing, just sitting there, sipping tea, and chatting away. We talked about everything—work, life, and just random stuff. It was so great to have a relax afternoon.
After we finished, we decided to walk off all those treats. We strolled through the neighborhood, checking out some cool vintage shops and just enjoying the vibe. Notting Hill is really pretty, with all those colorful houses and cute little gardens.
We found this little bookstore and spent like an hour in there, just browsing. Lily picked up a novel, and I got a cookbook—I’ve been trying to get better at cooking, so it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Candella Tea Room
This place was our first stop, and it did not disappoint. It’s a small, cozy spot with a vintage feel. The decor is all floral and pastel, and they have a great selection of teas. The sandwiches were fresh, and the scones were just perfect—warm and crumbly.
By the time we left, it was getting late. We said our goodbyes at the station, and I headed back home. It was such a lovely day—good food, great company, and a beautiful neighborhood. I’d definitely go back to Notting Hill for another afternoon tea adventure. Maybe next time, we’ll try The Orangery. I heard it’s also pretty amazing.
