Alright, alright, lemme tell ya somethin’ about this… this “it’s not me it’s my ocd” thing. You know, like when you gotta check if the stove’s off ten times, even though you just checked it? Yeah, that kinda stuff.
What is this OCD thing anyway?
Well, from what I gather, it’s like your brain’s got a little glitch. It’s like a smoke detector, ya know? But this one’s all messed up. It keeps screechin’ even when there ain’t no fire. Your mind keeps tellin’ ya somethin’ bad’s gonna happen if you don’t do somethin’ silly, like washin’ your hands till they’re raw.
It ain’t that you’re a bad person or crazy or nothin’. It’s just this… this thing in your head that won’t shut up. It makes you worry and worry and worry, even about stuff that don’t make no sense.
Why them thoughts feel so real?
Now, here’s the kicker. These thoughts, they feel real as rain. Like, you really think somethin’ terrible is gonna happen if you don’t tap your foot three times or whatever. It’s like your brain’s playin’ tricks on ya, makin’ ya believe stuff that ain’t true.
They say it’s ’cause the brain’s wires get crossed or somethin’. The part of your brain that deals with real stuff and the part that deals with thoughts, they get all mixed up. So, your brain can’t tell the difference between thinkin’ somethin’ bad and somethin’ bad actually happenin’.
- That’s why you gotta keep checkin’ and recheckin’ and doin’ all them rituals.
- You’re tryin’ to make the worryin’ stop, but it just makes it worse in the long run.
How to make it a bit better, huh?
Now, I ain’t no doctor, mind you, but I heard there’s ways to make it a bit better. They got this thing called “talkin’ therapy,” where you just yak about your worries with someone. And there’s this other thing, somethin’ about “retrainin’ your brain,” like teachin’ it to not freak out so much.
And then there’s this… this “NLP” thing and… “Emotional Freedom Technique”, or somethin’ like that. Sounds fancy, but from what I hear, it’s about tappin’ on certain spots on your body while you’re thinkin’ about your worries. They say it helps calm the mind down. I don’t know how it works, but folks say it does.
It ain’t your fault.
The main thing is, you gotta remember it ain’t your fault. It ain’t like you’re weak or nothin’. It’s just this thing, this OCD, that’s tryin’ to mess with ya. And there’s people out there who can help, people who understand what you’re goin’ through. So don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help.
It’s just your brain playin’ tricks
So, next time them thoughts start creepin’ in, next time you feel that urge to check the door again or wash your hands again, just remember: it ain’t you, it’s the OCD. It’s like a little bully in your brain, tryin’ to boss you around. But you don’t gotta listen to it. You can fight back. You can get help. And you can learn to live a good life, even with this thing hangin’ around.
Don’t hide it, talk about it
And for goodness sake, don’t hide it away like some dirty secret. Talk to someone, anyone, you trust. Let ’em know what’s goin’ on in your head. You’d be surprised how many people have dealt with similar stuff, or at least know someone who has. There’s strength in numbers, they say, and it’s true. Sharing your burden can make it a whole lot lighter.
Take it one step at a time
And don’t try to fix everything at once. That’s like tryin’ to eat a whole watermelon in one bite. Take it slow, one step at a time. Little by little, you can learn to manage them thoughts and them urges. It ain’t gonna be easy, but it’s possible. And it’s worth it. You deserve to live a life that ain’t ruled by worry and fear. So, go on, take that first step. You got this.
You ain’t alone, child.
Remember, you ain’t alone in this fight. There’s plenty of folks out there who understand, and there’s help available. Don’t give up. You’re stronger than you think. And you deserve to be happy. Now, go on and shoo that OCD away like a pesky fly. You got a life to live.
