Well, let me tell ya, this whole thing about 83 of 60, sounds like some kinda riddle, don’t it? Like them city folks trying to be clever. But I reckon it’s about that sickness, the one they call… COVID-something. Yeah, that one.
What’s this “viral load” thing they keep jabbering about? It’s like this, see? How much of that nasty stuff is swimming around in your body. Like, if you got a little cold, you got a little of the bad stuff. But if you’re real sick, coughin’ and achin’ all over, then you got a whole heap of it. That’s what they mean, I think. They like to use fancy words, but it’s just about how much of that bug is inside ya.
- Little bit sick? Little bit of the bug.
- Real sick? Lots of the bug.
They say it changes too. Like, maybe today you got a little, tomorrow you got a lot. Or maybe you had a lot, and now it’s gettin’ less. It’s like the weather, always changing. Can’t ever just stay put, can it?
Now, they got these machines, see? Fancy machines that can tell you exactly how much of that stuff you got. They shine lights and stuff, all kinds of hocus pocus. But it tells ‘em the numbers. And I guess that’s important, for them doctors and such. They gotta know how bad it is, so they can figure out how to make you better.
And this new bug, the one they call… Oh-my-cron, or somethin’ like that. They say it’s different. Not as much of that bad stuff in you, even if you feel pretty bad. But it spreads faster, like wildfire. One minute it’s over yonder, the next it’s right here in your face. It’s a tricky one, that’s for sure.
They also say that you can have that bug in you before you even feel sick. Like, you’re walkin’ around, feelin’ fine, but you’re already spreadin’ it around. That’s why they tell you to wear them masks and wash your hands all the time. It’s like trying to catch a fly with a sieve, I tell ya. Hard to do, but you gotta try.
And them shots they give you? They say it helps your body fight off that bad stuff. Makes it so you don’t get so sick, or maybe you don’t get sick at all. I don’t know much about that, but I reckon it’s like giving your body some extra soldiers to fight off the bad guys. Seems like a good idea to me, though some folks don’t like it. They say it’s poison or somethin’. But I say, a little poison might be better than dyin’ from that coughin’ sickness.
And speaking of spreadin’ it around, they say you’re the most contagious right before you start feelin’ bad. That’s when you got the most of that stuff in you, ready to jump onto somebody else. So you gotta be careful, even if you feel fine. ‘Cause you never know, you might be carryin’ that bug around without even knowin’ it.
It’s all a bit confusing, if you ask me. All this talk of numbers and viruses and whatnot. But I guess the important thing is to try to stay healthy, wash your hands, and be nice to folks. We’re all in this together, like it or not. And maybe, just maybe, if we all do our part, we can get rid of this nasty sickness once and for all.
And that 83 of 60 thing? I still don’t rightly know what it means. Maybe it’s how many folks got sick out of a group, or maybe it’s some kind of measurement they use. Like I said, them city folks, always tryin’ to be clever. But whatever it is, I hope it ain’t nothin’ bad.
So, you keep your chin up, wash your hands, and try not to worry too much. That’s about all you can do, ain’t it?
