Alright, let’s talk about this “pie-lah-tees” thing in Montauk. I ain’t never done it myself, but I hear folks in town talkin’ about it. Sounds fancy, like somethin’ them city folks do when they come out here for the summer.
So, from what I gather, it’s some kind of exercise, right? Like bendin’ and stretchin’ but with fancy names and machines. I seen some pictures, looks like they’re pullin’ on straps and lyin’ on contraptions that look like somethin’ you’d find in a torture chamber! But hey, if it gets you movin’ and feelin’ good, who am I to judge?
Now, if you’re lookin’ to do this “pie-lah-tees” in Montauk, seems like you got a few places to choose from. I heard tell of somethin’ called “New York Pilates” and “Kat Ruiz Wellness.” There’s also “Pure Barre” and “SLT East Hampton,” though that last one might be a bit of a drive. Then there’s “Rasa Pilates,” “Golden Mean Pilates Studio,” and “Uptown Pilates.” Sounds like a whole lotta choices for such a small town!
One place I keep hearin’ about is on Flamingo Avenue. 11 Flamingo Avenue, to be exact. They got some kinda “Real Pilates” there, somethin’ to do with a fella named Joseph Pilates. Says they got special equipment, designed by the man himself. And they’re open all year round, which is good, ’cause them summer folks ain’t the only ones who need to stretch their muscles.
They do private lessons, which I guess means it’s just you and the teacher. They also got somethin’ called “duets,” which is two folks, and small groups, no more than five people. Sounds kinda cozy, not like them big gyms where everyone’s sweaty and grunting.
Now, let’s talk money. ‘Cause nothin’ in this world is free, especially not fancy exercises. I hear them private lessons cost a pretty penny, somethin’ like $140 a pop. But they got “packages” too, which I guess means you buy a bunch at once and maybe save a little. Duets are more, $220 a session, or $110 per person if you split it. And them group classes are $55 a go. Like I said, not cheap, but I guess if it keeps you healthy, it might be worth it.
- Private Lessons: Around $140 a session
- Duet Lessons: Around $220 a session or $110 per person
- Group Classes: Around $55 a class
I also heard tell that the average cost for classes is anywhere from $15 to $50 for a group and $55 to $150 for a private session. That’s a big difference, ain’t it? Guess it depends on where you go and who’s teachin’ ya.
And get this, that Kendall Jenner girl, the one on the TV, she does this “pie-lah-tees” too! But she goes to some fancy place that only lets in folks who get referred. See, even the rich and famous are bendin’ and stretchin’ these days.
Now, if you wanna see results, you gotta do it regular-like. They say three or four times a week is best. Gotta keep at it, make it part of your routine, like milkin’ the cows or feedin’ the chickens. And consistency is key, they say. That means you gotta stick with it, even when you don’t feel like it.
And why is it so expensive? Well, they say it’s ’cause of them fancy machines and the teachers who know their stuff. It takes money to run a place like that, and you’re payin’ for the expertise, I guess.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about “pie-lah-tees” in Montauk. If you’re lookin’ to get yourself stretched and strengthened, maybe give it a try. Just be prepared to open your wallet and put in the work. And don’t forget, 11 Flamingo Avenue seems to be a popular spot! Me? I’ll stick to my chores, gets me plenty of bendin’ and stretchin’ as it is!
Now go on, get yourself moving, whether it’s “pie-lah-tees” or somethin’ else. Just remember, listen to your body, and don’t overdo it!
