Alright, let’s talk about this 83 and 70 thing, whatever it is. Sounds like numbers they use at the market when they weigh your vegetables, but I guess it’s somethin’ more serious.
So, what’s the big deal about these numbers? Well, from what I hear, it’s got somethin’ to do with, you know, that sickness stuff that’s been goin’ around. Viruses and such. You know, the stuff that makes you cough and sneeze and feel like a wet dishrag.
They got these fancy words, like “viral load” and “infection markers.” Sounds complicated, right? But it’s just about how much of that bad stuff is in your body, I think. Like, is it a little bit, or is it a whole lot? That’s what them numbers try to tell ya, I reckon.
- Number 83, what’s that about? I ain’t no doctor, but seems like this number might be about how fast that sickness spreads. You know, like when one person gets it, how many other folks they gonna give it to? If it’s a high number, then it’s gonna spread like wildfire through dry grass. If it’s low, maybe it ain’t so bad. But don’t quote me on that, I’m just guessin’ here.
- And that number 70? Maybe that’s about how much of that nasty stuff is in your spit or your blood or somethin’. Higher the number, the more you got, I suppose. And if you got a lot, you’re probably gonna feel pretty darn sick. Again, just my guessin’. Don’t go tellin’ the doctor I said so.
They also talk about “R naught” and “R e”. Sounds like somethin’ out of a space movie! But it’s just another way to measure how fast that sickness spreads. Like I said, high number means it spreads fast, low number means it’s slower. Simple as that.
Then there’s all this talk about tests. They poke ya and prod ya and take your blood, and then they give you these numbers. And you gotta figure out what it all means. Positive or negative, they say. Like a battery, I guess. Positive means you got it, negative means you don’t. But even then, there’s more numbers to look at!
Why do these numbers matter, anyway? Well, if you know how much of that sickness is in your body, and how fast it’s spreading, maybe you can do somethin’ about it. Maybe you can take some medicine, or stay home so you don’t give it to other folks. Or maybe, the doctors can figure out what kind of medicine works best. That’s what I heard them sayin’ on the TV, anyways.
Now, they got these shots, vaccines they call ‘em. They’re supposed to help your body fight off that sickness stuff. They give you a little bit of the bad stuff, so your body learns how to fight it. Like trainin’ a dog, I guess. And then, when the real bad stuff comes along, your body is ready. That’s the idea, anyhow. I got my shots, I did. Didn’t want to end up coughin’ and wheezin’ like old man Jenkins down the road.
This whole thing is a big puzzle, if you ask me. Lots of numbers and fancy words. But the bottom line is, you don’t want to get sick. And if you do get sick, you want to get better. So, listen to the doctors, even if they talk in riddles sometimes. And wash your hands! That’s what my mama always told me, and it’s still good advice, I reckon.
So, to sum it all up, these numbers like 83 and 70, and all that other stuff, it’s just a way to measure how bad that sickness is, how fast it spreads, and how much of it you got in your body. It ain’t easy to understand, but it’s important. So, pay attention, and do what you gotta do to stay healthy. And for goodness sake, cover your mouth when you cough!
And don’t forget, eating your vegetables is important too. Can’t fight off nothin’ on an empty stomach, I tell ya. A good bowl of soup and a warm blanket never hurt nobody neither.
Now, I gotta go feed the chickens. All this talk about sickness and numbers is makin’ my head spin.
