Well, let me tell you somethin’ ’bout these numbers, 75 and 86. Don’t rightly know why they picked ’em, but sounds like somethin’ important, you know? Like when the old rooster crows at 75 degrees, means it’s gonna be a scorcher. And 86? Why, that’s when you gotta start worryin’ ’bout the cows gettin’ heatstroke, gotta get ’em in the shade.
But seein’ as this ain’t about chickens or cows, I reckon it’s about somethin’ else. Maybe it’s a story, like them soap operas my granddaughter watches. Always folks gettin’ into trouble, then gettin’ out of it. Just like life, I tell ya. One minute you’re up, next you’re down, like a seesaw at the county fair.
So, if we’re talkin’ ’bout stories and people in ’em, you gotta have some good folks and some bad folks, ain’t that right? The good ones, they work hard, they’re honest, and they try to do right by their neighbors. The bad ones, well, they’re always schemin’ and connivin’, tryin’ to get ahead, no matter who they hurt.
- Good folks, they’re like my old man, worked his fingers to the bone, never complained.
- Bad folks, they’re like that slick salesman who came through town sellin’ snake oil, took folks’ money and run.
Now, to make a story interestin’, you gotta give these folks some problems, you know? Like, maybe the good fella loses his farm ’cause the bank’s foreclosin’, or maybe the bad fella gets caught in his own lies. That’s what keeps folks watchin’, keeps ’em guessin’ what’s gonna happen next.
And the characters, they gotta be real, you know? Not some fancy-pants city folk who don’t know nothin’ ’bout hard work. They gotta be like us, folks who’ve seen tough times, who know what it’s like to struggle. They gotta have secrets too, things they don’t want nobody else to know. Everybody’s got secrets, even old ladies like me. Keeps things spicy, keeps folks talkin’.
So, if I was tellin’ a story ’bout 75 and 86, I’d start with a fella, maybe he’s 75 years old, seen a lot in his life. He’s got a secret, somethin’ he’s been carryin’ around for years. And then there’s a young gal, maybe she’s 86, not years old, but maybe that’s her lucky number or somethin’. She’s got her own problems, her own struggles. And somehow, their lives get all tangled up together. Maybe she needs his help, or maybe he needs hers. That’s the start of a good story, right there.
And don’t forget the twists and turns, you know? Just when you think you got it all figured out, somethin’ comes along and throws you for a loop. That’s what makes a story worth tellin’, makes it somethin’ folks will remember. Like that time the pig got loose at the church picnic, nobody saw that comin’!
So, yeah, 75 and 86, could be anything, really. But if you ask me, it sounds like a story about life, about people, about secrets and struggles and findin’ your way through it all. And that’s a story worth hearin’, any day of the week. It’s all about ups and downs, just like plantin’ crops, sometimes you get a good harvest, sometimes you don’t. That’s life for ya.
And you gotta have a good endin’, somethin’ that makes you feel like it was all worth it. Maybe the good folks win, maybe the bad folks get what’s comin’ to ‘em, or maybe it’s somethin’ in between. But it’s gotta feel real, gotta feel true to life. Because that’s what matters, in the end, ain’t it? Tellin’ a story that folks can connect with, somethin’ that makes ‘em think and feel and maybe even learn a little somethin’ along the way.
So that’s my take on 75 and 86. Not sure if it’s what you were lookin’ for, but it’s the truth as I see it. And that’s all I got to say about that.
